WHY IS MY PIANO OUT OF TUNE?

Pianos go out of tune for a myriad of reasons, but the most predictable reasons are changes in humidity and the passage of time.

With changing seasons comes changes in humidity that push and pull on your piano’s soundboard, causing the overall pitch to rise and fall. At the same time, your piano is supporting a tremendous amount of string tension, up to 25,000lbs! It can only hold this tension for about a year before the strings begin to relax and the pitch falls flat.

Tuning your piano every six months is a great way to ensure your piano stays in tune through the shifting seasons and for years to come.
